Positive Discipline

Developed by Jane Nelson Ed.D, Positive Discipline is the program and shared language used in Buckey’s Common Tongue. As our seeds grow and develop who they are, Positive Discipline will define our classroom boundaries and help us troubleshoot when these boundaries are crossed with supportive, unconditionally loving solutions. We use this to:

  • bridge communication gaps
  • diffuse power struggles
  • enforce our message of love
  • build on strengths, not weaknesses
  • hold children accountable with their self-respect intact
  • teach children not what to think but how to think
  • win cooperation at home and at school
  • meet the special challenges of transitions like adolescence
